Condition: Original lithographed colours, linen backed. Few small parts missing and painted as restorations, water staining affecting the linen on the left side, but not the poster. The poster is a little warped. Else in good condition. Signed in the print.

Beautiful and very rare poster depicting a Chinese show circus scene. No other copy found.

Cândido Aragonez de Faria, was a Brazilian cartoonist, painter, lithographer and poster artist installed in France from 1882.
Faria made posters for artist expositions, café-concerts and for the cinema. He also worked for music publishing companies and made small and large format lithographs. He signed "Faria workshop" when publishing for the workshop or in collective productions.

The Pinder Circus was founded in 1854 in the UK by brothers William and George Pinder and went to Europe and became Frances most famous circus where it remains to this day in name only as no members of the Pinder family are involved.
Pinders circus in Scotland also became famous including 3 command performances for Queen Victoria at Balmoral castle in 1877-1892-and 1898.
