Description
The plan is decorated with a magnificent dedicational cartouche to the patricians of Augsburg, Johann Stetten and Johann Jacob Holzapfel, animated by five figures and decorated with coats of arms of the city of Augsburg and the two dedicatees.
Churches and important buildings are represented in elevation. The north is at the bottom of the map.
The keys are given in Latin and German.
Seutter was a German cartographer and editor installed in Augsburg, he became the student of Homann, map maker and publisher active in Nuremberg from 1697. Appointed Geographer of the Imperial Court, he published an Atlas Geographicus in 1725, an Atlas Novus in 1728, and a Grosser Atlas circa 1735.

We offer many maps in their original black and white condition. We do not systematically color-up maps to make them more sellable to the general public or buyer.
Copper engraved or wood block maps are always hand colored. Maps were initially colored for aesthetic reasons and to improve readability. Nowadays, it is becoming a challenge to find maps in their original colors and are therefor more valuable.
We use the following color keys in our catalog:
Original colors; mean that the colors have been applied around the time the map was issued.
Colored; If the colors are applied recently or at the end of the 20th century, then "colored", or "attractive colors" will be used.
Original o/l colors; means the map has only the borders colored at the time of publication.
