Janssonius' fine chart of the Pacific including the west coast of America with California shown as an island, Japan and a small Australian coastline. This is the earliest sea chart of the Pacific to appear in a Dutch Atlas.

London, J. Hogarth, 1852, In original colours, with some later additions.. 335x580mm. Original hand-coloured tinted lithograph op heavy paper. Artist names and captions below image, 357 x 600mm. The title and publishers details cut-off. Paper discolouration to margins from old mount, slight soiling overall, minor repairs to margins and image. The sky with some later colour addition.
One of the most sought after views of the city and harbour of Sydney seen from Near Vaucluse, 1852. Magnificent hand-coloured tinted lithograph and finished by gum-Arabic. Paris, 1834, Uncoloured.. 212x330mm. Folded as issued. Light scattered foxing, left margin 'chipped' and with a small neat tear (3cm) into the engraved area.
Left margin slim. Good condition otherwise, and in untouched condition and black and white as issued.
A lovely small map of the complete chain of Pacific islands known today as the Hawaiian islands, from Dumont d'Urville's atlas "Voyage pittoresque autour du Monde."
This map is one the very first to have the correct English spelling of Hawaii.
The islands engraved are: Nihau, Tauai, Oahou...
