Description
An attractive, large portfolio set of 32 reproductions published in Leningrad in 1976 by Aurora Art Publishers, containing various Soviet Union political posters from 1919 to the 1970s.
The large cardboard portfolio folder contains 32 color posters and an introduction in Russian and English by Gleb Nikolaevich Pavlov that tells the history of Soviet political posters. The portfolio has a Russian-language design on the front cover.
The inner folder's inside cover lists the prints in the portfolio, with English translations, artists, print dates, and artists' dates of birth. To the rear of each poster are the artist's name and date.
Published in Leningrad by Aurora Art Publishers.
There was a first portfolio with this name published in a smaller-sized edition in 1973 and reprinted in 1975, apparently with all different posters from the second portfolio.
Aurora Art Publishers — in Russian, Издательство «Аврора» / Izdatelstvo Avro, was a Soviet art-publishing house based in Leningrad, now Saint Petersburg, that produced art books, museum guides, painting reproductions, postcards, posters, and illustrated albums.
Its own history page says Aurora was organized as a central art publisher for exports, based on the Leningrad branch of Soviet Artists, and specialized in art and culture publications.

We use the following color keys in our catalog:
Original colors; mean that the colors have been applied around the time the map was issued.
Colored; If the colors are applied recently or at the end of the 20th century, then "colored", or "attractive colors" will be used.
Original o/l colors; means the map has only the borders colored at the time of publication.
