Description
An interesting map illustrating the route taken by the Russian Ambassador on his travels east to Beijing. Shows the Great Wall, "Somer Houses" and "parts unknown". With some interesting notations concerning the land and its people in present-day Uzbekistan including one describing a nomadic group that "The inhabitants of this country they nether Plow nor Sow, but move from place to place..."
Map detail includes, The Black and Caspian Seas, forests, mountains, lakes, some remote towns and villages, deserts and rivers. Including "Track of the Caravans" passing the twon of "Boekara".
Over the course of his career, Moll published dozens of geographies, atlases, and histories, not to mention numerous sheet maps. His most famous works are" Atlas Geograpihus, a monthly magazine that ran from 1708 to 1717, and "The World Described" (1715-54). He also frequently made maps for books, including those of Dampier’s publications and Swift’s 'Gulliver’s Travels'.Â
Moll died in 1732. It is likely that his plates passed to another contemporary, Thomas Bowles, after this death.

We offer many maps in their original black and white condition. We do not systematically color-up maps to make them more sellable to the general public or buyer.
Copper engraved or wood block maps are always hand colored. Maps were initially colored for aesthetic reasons and to improve readability. Nowadays, it is becoming a challenge to find maps in their original colors and are therefor more valuable.
We use the following color keys in our catalog:
Original colors; mean that the colors have been applied around the time the map was issued.
Original o/l colors; means the map has only the borders colored at the time of publication.
Colored; If the colors are applied recently or at the end of the 20th century.

Shipping fee
A flat shipping fee of $ 30 is added to each shipment by DHL within Europe and North America. This covers : International Priority shipping, Packing and Insurance (up to the invoice amount).
Shipments to Asia are $ 40 and rest of the world $50
