Description
Decorated with, to the left and right, on each side, eight coats of arms of the various local governors: On the left side, the coat of arms of: Daniel Baert, Iohan Baert, Adr. Corn Queldam, Man van Berchem (Hoofdingeland), Men Berghem (hoofdingeland), etc.
On the right side coat of arms of: Mr. Daniel Baert (Baljuw en Dijkgraaf), M. Emanuel Ras (Schepen en Heemraad), Adr. Corn. Queldam (schepen en heemraad), Adriaan Baert (Schepen en Heemraad), Elbert Elias (Schepen en Heemraad), Hend. Adr. Daey (schepen en heemraad(, Iohan Baert (Penningmeester), H. Nanning Daey (Secretaris)..
The coats of arms are printed from different copper plates. The map was published with and without coats of arms.
The map is further decorated with the coat of arms of the county of Holland at the top left and the coat of arms of the Wieringerwaard at the top right, a compass rose, and a scale cartouche at the top right.
Adriaan Anthonisz (1527– 1607) designed the map in 1611. The coat of arms of the board of the polder suggests that this impression was published between 1741 and 1744.

Color Key
We offer many maps in their original black and white condition. We do not systematically color-up maps to make them more sellable to the general public or buyer.
Copper engraved or wood block maps are always hand colored. Maps were initially colored for aesthetic reasons and to improve readability. Nowadays, it is becoming a challenge to find maps in their original colors and are therefor more valuable.
We use the following color keys in our catalog:
Original colors; mean that the colors have been applied around the time the map was issued.
Original o/l colors; means the map has only the borders colored at the time of publication.
Colored; If the colors are applied recently or at the end of the 20th century.

Shipping fee
A flat shipping fee of $ 30 is added to each shipment by DHL within Europe and North America. This covers : International Priority shipping, Packing and Insurance (up to the invoice amount).
Shipments to Asia are $ 40 and rest of the world $50
We charge only one shipping fee when you have been successful on multiple items or when you want to combine gallery and auction purchases.
