Description
The first engraving is of 'Stanway', the ancestral seat of the Tracey family. Stanway is a Jacobean manor house, in north Gloucestershire, built in the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries, for the Tracey family. It has been their home for over 500 years.
This handsome engraving shows the house in relation to its surrounding countryside, the local church, outbuildings, and its formal gardens. A fine carriage, pulled by a team of horses are seen approaching the house in the lower left corner.
The second engraving is of 'Didmartin, the Seat of Robert Codrington'. Didmartin is a sixteenth century manor house, situated near Tetbury in S.E. Gloucestershire, and was originally owned by the Seacole family. In 1571 a Simon Codrington marries Agnes Seacole, and the estate duly passed (in time) down to Robert Codrington.
In this plate we see some wonderful formal gardens, rolling countryside, and cultivation. The respective family crests are displayed in the middle of the titles. Sir Robert Atkyns (1647-1711) was a topographer, antiquary and an English M.P.

Color Key
We offer many maps in their original black and white condition. We do not systematically color-up maps to make them more sellable to the general public or buyer.
Copper engraved or wood block maps are always hand colored. Maps were initially colored for aesthetic reasons and to improve readability. Nowadays, it is becoming a challenge to find maps in their original colors and are therefor more valuable.
We use the following color keys in our catalog:
Original colors; mean that the colors have been applied around the time the map was issued.
Original o/l colors; means the map has only the borders colored at the time of publication.
Colored; If the colors are applied recently or at the end of the 20th century.

Shipping fee
A flat shipping fee of $ 30 is added to each shipment by DHL within Europe and North America. This covers : International Priority shipping, Packing and Insurance (up to the invoice amount).
Shipments to Asia are $ 40 and rest of the world $50
