Description
Illustré d'une page de titre aux armes de Paris avec sa devise "Fluctuat nec mergitur", de 14 ff. de nomenclature des rues par ordre alphabétique et de 80 planches lithographiées figurant les 80 quartiers de Paris. Chaque cartier a été soigneusement colorié par Le Roux.
Cet atlas, vraisemblablement commandé par la Société de la Charité Maternelle de Paris, recense et figure par quartier l’emplacement de la communauté en indiquant le nom de la dame administrante. Chaque quartier porte l’adresse et le nom inscrits à la plume.
La Société de la Charité Maternelle, association de bienfaisance fondée en 1784 par Madame de Fougeret, avait pour but d’éviter l’abandon des enfants par les mères se trouvant dans un état de grande pauvreté et de réduire la mortalité des nourrissons. L’association œuvre toujours et continue à aider les familles démunies.
"1784 : Création de l’Association par Madame de Fougeret. L’association a alors pour but d’éviter l’abandon des enfants par les mères se trouvant dans un état de grande pauvreté et de réduire la mortalité des nourrissons. La Reine Marie Antoinette en assure la présidence en 1788.
Pendant la Révolution, l’association poursuit son œuvre, soutenue par l’Assemblée Nationale (décret d’attribution de subvention en 1791).
A partir de 1801, après les troubles révolutionnaires, son travail reprend de façon plus organisée. Son essor ne cesse de croître tout au long du XIX siècle sous les présidences de la Reine Marie-Amélie, de l’Impératrice Eugénie, avec la création d’une filiale « l’Œuvre des berceaux » et l’ouverture de plusieurs « Société Maternelle » dans une quarantaine de villes de France."

We indicate the condition of each item and use our unnique HiBCoR grading system in which four key items determine a map's value: Historical Importance, Beauty, Condition/Coloring and Rarity.
Color Key
We offer many maps in their original black and white condition. We do not systematically color-up maps to make them more sellable to the general public or buyer.
Copper engraved or wood block maps are always hand colored. Maps were initially colored for aesthetic reasons and to improve readability. Nowadays, it is becoming a challenge to find maps in their original colors and are therefor more valuable.
We use the following color keys in our catalog:
Original colors; mean that the colors have been applied around the time the map was issued.
Original o/l colors; means the map has only the borders colored at the time of publication.
Colored; If the colors are applied recently or at the end of the 20th century.

Shipping fee
A flat shipping fee of $ 30 is added to each shipment by DHL within Europe and North America. This covers : International Priority shipping, Packing and Insurance (up to the invoice amount).
Shipments to Asia are $ 40 and rest of the world $50
We charge only one shipping fee when you have been successful on multiple items or when you want to combine gallery and auction purchases.
