Description
The Upper left corner of the large folding wall map of Hungary was prepared by Ignac Müller and published first in 1769. The map was made for official use and was kept secret until the end of the 18th century.
The map was finally published in 1807 by T.Mollo. The plates were reengraved and published in 1804 and 1807. showing garlands with two putti and portraits of Maria Theresia and Francis I.
Francis I was the Duke of Lorraine and Bar, and later Grand Duke of Tuscany, who married Maria Theresa of Austria and became the last non-Habsburg Holy Roman Emperor and Archduke of Austria. His wife effectively ruled Austria and the Holy Roman Empire.
They were the founders of the Habsburg-Lorraine dynasty.

Copper engraved or wood block maps are always hand colored. Maps were initially colored for aesthetic reasons and to improve readability. Nowadays, it is becoming a challenge to find maps in their original colors and are therefor more valuable.
We use the following color keys in our catalog:
Original colors; mean that the colors have been applied around the time the map was issued.
Colored; If the colors are applied recently or at the end of the 20th century, then "colored", or "attractive colors" will be used.
Original o/l colors; means the map has only the borders colored at the time of publication.
