Description
Complete title : "Geognostische Karte des Taurus und seiner Nebenzweige in den Paschaliken Adana und Marasch, nebst dem angrenzenden Theile des Paschalikes von Aleppo / nach den Bestmmungen des K. K. Bergrathes Joseph Russegger und mit Benützung der neuesten Quellen in K. K. Militärisch-geographischen Institute zu Wien zusammengestelt. Echelle, ca. 1:580 000."
The map is taken from: Reisen in Europa, Asien und Afrika: Atlas mit besonderer Rücksicht auf die naturwissenschaftlichen Verhältnisse der betreffenden Länder / unternommen in den Jahren 1835 bis 1841, by Joseph Russegger.
Handwritten annotations: "Map colored with oil using as many plates as there are colors, under the direction of Major Skribanek, at the Imperial Lithographic Institute. For each color, each hundred receiving its color by means of lithographic printing costs 7.50 francs. Compared to hand coloring, this method is much quicker, and despite the special care it requires in fitting the sheets to the plates, it appears cheaper than hand coloring—at least in Vienna." Color Key
We offer many maps in their original black and white condition. We do not systematically color-up maps to make them more sellable to the general public or buyer.
Copper engraved or wood block maps are always hand colored. Maps were initially colored for aesthetic reasons and to improve readability. Nowadays, it is becoming a challenge to find maps in their original colors and are therefor more valuable.
We use the following color keys in our catalog:
Original colors; mean that the colors have been applied around the time the map was issued.
Original o/l colors; means the map has only the borders colored at the time of publication.
Colored; If the colors are applied recently or at the end of the 20th century.

Shipping fee
A flat shipping fee of $ 30 is added to each shipment by DHL within Europe and North America. This covers : International Priority shipping, Packing and Insurance (up to the invoice amount).
Shipments to Asia are $ 40 and rest of the world $50
