Condition: Cut on border, with some slight loss and remargined for protective reason. Good impression.

Engraving by Jan van Londerseel (Antwerpen 1570 - Rotterdam 1624) and published by Claes Jansz. Visscher. Large engraving showing the ark of Noah. Noah, his three sons, their wives and various animals in pairs are walking towards a large ship in the right background.
Noah is clutching a large book in his right hand, people dancing and playing music in the central background, the tetragrammaton in top right corner, surrounded by a strapwork border, second state with address of Visscher, from a series of 130 engravings (plus title-page) forming a Picture Bible "Historiae Sacrae Veteris et Novi Testamenti".

In lower left corner of the image: "CIVisscher excudit." and "Jan Londerseel scul." Lettered in the lower margin with three lines of Dutch verse and biblical verse in Latin: "God gaf Noa bevel .../... most alles me vergaen" and "Cumq teneret eum...animalia cętera terrę".

Measurements exclude the margins and are provided in both millimeters and inches, with height given first.
Color was done by hand. 'Original colors' means that the item was colored at, or about, the time of it's original publication. When the term 'Colored' appears, it means that the map was more recently colored, likely in this century or at the end of last century.

Our warranty means that there is no time limitation to our guarantee of authenticity and if there is ever discovered that something bought here is not authentic, your money will be returned.
