Poster designed by Willem Anthonie Oepts (1904 - 1988), published by the Dutch Military Government for "De Pen gun".

The designer Willem Anthonie Oepts (1904 - 1988) is known for its many abstracted and sunlit landscapes he painted after 1945. From 1935 he lived mainly in France. After the outbreak of World War II, he fled to England, where he joined the Dutch government in London as "war artist" to work. From there he took in 1944, as a soldier, he participated in the invasion of mainland Europe. He made illustrations for the army magazine Pen Gun. In 1958 Oepts received the Prize of the Foundation Artists Resistance 1942-1945 for his activities during the war.

The Pen gun was founded on the night of 19 on May 20, 1945 at the mansion Spelderholt in Apeldoorn, when the commander of the Dutch armed forces, Prince Bernhard, and his staff gathered for a meeting. They decided to publish a magazine called "The Pen Gun '. This name was a variant on the name of the main weapon of the Interior Forces, the Stengun. In October 1945 the circulation was 140,000 copies already. In March 1946 there were only printed 160,000, of which 110,000 purchased by the Ministries of War, Navy and Overseas Territories and were intended for soldiers. Critics believed that Pen Gun in this time of great shortage of paper was drawn to the paper assignment. It came to the magazine in its coverage of the military conflict in Indonesia, becoming more independent, reactionary, race sailed. The ministries cancelled their subscriptions. The last Gun Pen appeared on December 30, 1946.
