Description : Topographical and iconographical work on Brabant illustrated with 1 engr. title-vignette and 190 engraved views, plans & armorial plates by J. Harrewijn, G. Bouttats and H. Cause.
Originally published in 1757 as 'Delices du Brabant & de ses campagnes'. The engravings were for the greater part published before in Le Roy's 'Castella' and depict castles & country seats in Brabant. With the plans and profiles of Louvain, Antwerp, Brussels and 's-Hertogenbosch and many views of castles, houses of nobles, ruins and other important estates in the dukedom of Brabant..

Four parts in two volumes : I. Deel. Behelzende het Kwartier van Leuven. Te Amsteldam, By P. J. Entrop, 1768.
bound with II. Deel. Behelzende het Kwartier van Brussel. Te Amsteldam, By David Weege, 1770.

A second volume with : III. Deel Behelzende het kwartier van Antwerpen. bound with IV Deel Behelzende het Kwartier van s'Hertogenbosch de Heerlykheid en de Stad van Mechelen. Te Amsteldam, By David Weege, 1770.

Important illustrated work with a description of Brabant illustrated with 100 copper engravings by Harrewijn, Bouttats, Causé, Erlinger of castles, town views and coat of arms. With an extensive historical, chronological, geographical and genealogical description translated from French of the 4 quarters of the Duchy of Brabant in present-day Belgium and the Netherlands.



Condition : 8vo. 4 parts in 2 volumes. (8),156, (4) , (4), 174, (4) , (4), 120, (4) , (4), 88, (4) pp. Half leather binding, spine gilt. Corners bumped. Slightly browning, some minor foxing.
