Pre-Revolutionary War era map based on Lewis Evansí map of 1749 and one of the few maps to concentrate on this area and one of the most bizarre maps of North America ever published. The entire coastline is highly inaccurate: New Hampshire to Cape Cod being represented almost as a straight north/south line.
The rare second state of three.
There has been small alteration from state one, being the addition of ,Susquehanna, on the river of that name below the south of Pennsylvania. The only Susquehanna in the present-day United States is in northern Pennsylvania but there is no modern town where Seutter locates it. It was presumably, therefore, a reference to an intended new German settlement.
State three carries the imprint of T.C.Lotter, Seutter's successor, who was also responsible for engraving the map. A good and dark impression.
