Condition Rating

A leaf from: Hartman Schedel (1440-1514), 'Liber Chronicarum', published in 1493. Or: 'Nuremberg Chronicle, published in Nuremberg by Anton Koberger: an illustrated world history by Schedel, a medical doctor, humanist, and book collector, assembled the text from a variety of classical and medieval sources, doubtless drawing on his own large personal library. Delightful, woodcut illustrations by Michael Wolgemut and Wilhelm Pleydenwurff.
Offered here is a single leaf from the book dealing with the 'Sexta Etas Mundi', the sixth century Anno Mundi (= 15th century). On the recto giving woodcut portraits of the Popes Innocentius VII, Gregorius XII and Alexander V with biographies, from the years Anno Mundi 6603, 6605 and 6608, being Anno Christi 1404, 1406 and 1408.
On verso three woodcut portraits and biographies of the worldly leaders (all from ca. 1400) Duke Johannes Galeacin, Ladislaus King of Apulia and Beghardus. Here page number: f.'CCXXXV'.
