Decorative Pictorial Map of New Zealand, by the celebrated illustrator Gill (Leslie) MacDonald Gill (1884 - died 1947) who produced for the British Ministry of Information during the Second World War in 1943 a series of maps of the colonies highlighting their rich resources. The poster was then issued over a period of several years with changing text in the text block at lower right. This early edition is entitled "IN WAR AND PEACE When war broke out New Zealand industries were unprepared for munitions production. To-day New Zealand is not only manufacturing many kinds of munitions for her own defence but is making a valuable contribution to the defence of the other areas in the Pacific. When the war is over, New Zealand will convert her new industries for peace-time development".

Illustrating the locations of various industrial and natural resource, such as farmland, mines and forests. Includes New Zealand coat of arms, a compass and Key to symbols. Map has various texts.
