Description :With a fine wood cut of Jerome (100 x 80mm.) in the robes and headdress of a cardinal, seated at a writing desk, with open books before him. Looking cut from behind him, its paws on a parapet, is the (rather sad-looking) lion he healed, and which became a domestic pet in the cloister according to legend. The artist has sanctified both man and beast by a nimbus.
On verso a large woodcut representing the Second Ecumenical Council, held at Constantinople, which was attended by one hundred fifty fathers, and was held at the time of the Emperors Gratian (Graciani) and Theodosius, and of Pope Damasus, Cyril, the bishop of Jerusalem, and Nectarius, the patriarch of Alexandria.

Latin text page with woodcuts on recto and verso of Saints, Kings, and Queens
Page from the richest illustrated Incunable, the famous: Nuremberg Chronicle, published the year that Columbus returned to Europe after discovering America. In May of 1493 appeared in the Latin language one of the earliest voluminous books, fully illustrated with 1809 woodcuts printed from 645 woodblocks. With the help of others, including the globe maker Martin Behaim, Doctor Hartmann Schedel compiled and published a Chronicle of the World now known as the Nuremberg Chronicle. Printed by Anton Koberger, and financed by Sebald Schreyer in Latin and German editions.
The woodblock cutters were Michael Wolgemut, the well-known teacher of Albrecht Dürer, and his stepson Wilhelm Pleydenwurff. Wohlgemut was Albrecht Dürer's tutor between 1486-90 and recent scholarship has shown, Albrecht Dürer may also have collaborated, since some of the cuts bear a remarkably close resemblance to the Apocalypse illustrations.
The printing was carried out under the supervision of the great scholar-printer Anton Koberger, whose printing were famous throughout Europe
A opportunity to acquire a 15th-century book illustration by named artists.!
