Paulus Swaen Europe b.v.

In order to better serve our European buyers and sellers, we have opened a branch in Amsterdam.

Amsterdam, with publishers like Willem and Joan Blaeu, Jodocus and Henricus Hondius, Johannes Janssonius, Frederick de Wit, Nicolas Visscher, Jacob Colom, Lootsman, and a dozen others ruled the European 17th-century map and atlas production.
It is here in Amsterdam at the Pieter Lastmankade 2, within two kilometers of the Museumplein Park, home to the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum, and the place where the printshops of Blaeu and Hondius were located that the office of Paulus Swaen Europe b.v., is located.

Roland Boelen - Is our Amsterdam-based representative in Paulus Swaen Europe b.v.  and he has 25 years of experience in the auction and collecting world. Roland has experience in collection building and eventually selling a collection. Roland worked for many years at the famous Six Collection in Amsterdam. Feel free to contact Roland Boelen if you want to sell Dutch prints, Cobra art in our auction or for any assistance you need in selling your art collection in general.

Pierre Joppen - is the founder of Paulus Swaen and since the foundation in 1978 Pierre specializes in maps, atlases, and globes from the 16th to 18th century. His knowledge of Dutch early mapmakers, coloring techniques by 18th century colorists as Dirk Jansz. van Santen is world-renowned. Originally trained as a graphic designer he has a keen eye for the esthetic aspect of engraving and map-making.
