
Francesco Costantino Marmocchi
It is probably the most accomplished work of Francesco Costantino Marmocchi (Poggibonsi, 1805-1858), a renowned geographer and cartographer. Of Mazzini's sympathies, Marmocchi took part in the riots of 1831, when he was jailed. In 1848 he became deputy in the Tuscan Parliament, and then held the office of Secretary of the Interior under Guerrazzi. He traveled extensively and made many geographical studies
