“Americae nova descriptio “ section with title page from “Tabularum geographicarum contractarum libri quatuor. Denuo recogniti” illustrated with tittle and 25 engraved maps.
America part of the penultimate and most extensive edition of Langenes's "Caert-Thresoor", extremely rare. The America part of the considerably extended edition of Barent Langenes' "Caert-Thresoor", first published Middelburg 1598. The first edition mainly contained maps from Kaerius, Hondius and Benjamin Wright after Ortelius. The present, without text, with the address of Visscher's Excudit on the title is, according to Koeman, extremely rare.

Fine general map of theWestern hemisphere and the two regional maps of North America in this atlas are "Terra nova" (Burden 113.3: "the first accurate map devoted to Newfoundland") and "Mexicana" (h3 Burden 114.2).

The additional maps mainly concern the Pacific region, but also South America, especially Brazil (for example, port maps of Pernambuco and Rio de Janeiro, h15 / 17).
