This large-format Portugal province map is finely engraved and beautifully coloured and was prepared by Girolamo Petri, a lawyer who served as a senior official within the Vatican’s State Secretariat, the arm of the Holy See responsible for managing its relationships with foreign powers.

London, 1926, Uncoloured.. 615x780mm. In fairly good condition. Centrefold, light soiling, age toning and some minor marks to borders, some pencil notes and lines on the chart, purple ink stamp. Good margins, good impression.
A large double page sea chart of the Cape Verde Islands in the Atlantic Ocean, initially surveyed by Lieut's Vidal & Mudge, R.N. between 1819-21, and first published by the Hydrographic Office in 1822. The chart underwent revision in 1903-1905-1916, and small corrections in the 1920s.
