Size : 6.8 x 9.7 inches. / 17.2 x 24.7 cm.
Colouring : Uncoloured.
Description :The map is elegantly designed and engraved on copper with typical Italian taste and skill. Separate double-hemispherical maps were no innovation but this is the first time that such a representation had been used in an atlas.
According to Shirley, most likely engraved by the brothers Giulio and Livio Sanuto.
Ptolemaic world map, consisting of two hemispheres in a second state of the 1561 plate with the addition of the southern continent. Asia and America joined by a broad mass of land.
Girolamo Ruscelli's edition of Ptolemy's Geographia included newly engraved copperplates by Giulio and Livio Sanuti. In 1574 a new plate was used which lasted until the final edition of 1599.
