 Condition Rating

A first edition of this scarce large format map of Florida, the Gulf Coast, Texas (almost to Corpus Christi), Mexico, Baja California and Central America, northern South America, and Caribbean. This very detailed map gives place names, some routes of navigation, provinces, numerous harbors and bays, towns, forts, channels, the direction of the trade winds, the Gulf Stream, and relief. Includes excellent detail along the coast of Florida, one of the best contemporary mappings of its coastline. Excellent detail in the Gulf Coast, including Texas, with a fair amount of detail in the interior. Texas is still part of Coahuila, and shown are St. Bernard Bay and the Atacapa Indians (described as cannibals).
