This map was created by Michael Mercator, grandson of the great Gerard Mercator. It is the only map attributed to him. Canvas-backed with original wooden rollers, well attached.
Original colour. No missing areas and minimal cracking and whitening.
Typical yellowing from the oxidation of the varnish. Light damp staining at upper right that is hardly noticeable because of the yellowing of the varnish. Small hole in upper left corner margin (1/4" x 1/2") has been repaired.
