Very rare map by Allard, showing the entire American continent with California as an island and an inset with the coastline of New Zealand. With a beautiful large cartouche showing an allegorical figure of America sitting on a stone in front of a sugar cane field, surrounded by animals, plants and a tribal man with offerings. One of the interesting features of this map is the depiction of a large 'Terra Esonis', a mythical land bridge which connects the Straits of Anian to Japan.
Though this map is not in mint condition and might require further TLC, it is still a stunning piece for any collection, considering its rarity.
