Description :Claes Visscher map of the German Duchies Jülich, Cleves, Berg with the County of Mark. - Bottom right is an inset map the country around Ravensberg. Top left is a pretty title cartouche, and lower left is a small cartouche with the publisher's name and date.
Map is very detailed and is of the highest quality engraving. Many large, influential and important cities are shown dotted along the Rhine river.
Very rare, not in Campbell - Claes Jansz. Visscher: A Hundred Maps Described (MCS No. 46), Nr. 49 u. 50. Campbell only mentions editions dated 1632 and 1657. Only included in the 1634 German text edition.

From an incomplete example of the 1634 German text edition of Blaeu's "Novus Atlas", previously owned by Johann Christoph Gesen (1639), Johann Rudolph von Metzradt (1651), Friedrich August II, King of Saxony (1797-1854).
P. van der Krogt mentions two variants for the German 1634 text edition and only two examples containing proof states (Bad Münstereifel and Gotha).

Condition : In very good condition, slight discolouration to centerfold and a few spots and stains, mainly confined to margins. Slight offsetting. Good wide margins and a strong dark impression. German text to verso.
